Baby Rylee’s newborn pictures are long overdue because of all of my traveling…Which I’ll go into later.  While I was visiting Ryan in Florida his best buddy & wife had a beautiful baby girl! I wasn’t planning on taking pictures while I was down in Florida. I was actually suppose to send my camera off to be cleaned and relax…but when Rylee was born I couldn’t help myself! It was such an exciting day to have Rylee finally come to this world. Ryan and I spent a few minutes with newborn Rylee on her very first day. After a few days Rylee was allowed to come home and have her very first unplanned photo shoot! Babies never do what you want…but they also never do a bad pose. Adorableness.  Chad don’t kill me for posting a pictures of Rylee’s bottom! hahaha

Hello Atlantians – Goodbye Athenians

It seems like there is a trend going on in my life where there is always room for more and more chaos. As several of you know I’ve been battling for several months to break my lease because of toxic mold issues with the house I was renting in Athens. Sadly, the whole issue continued to get uglier and uglier. I had to report my landlord to the county code inspectors to help me solve my mold dilemma. Even though this infuriated my landlord he left me no choice. 4 months had passed and he had not lifted a finger to fix multiple problems with the house. He finally let me out of my lease and I had 2 weeks to pack up and go. I lost my deposit of course, but I was happy to just get out of my lease. Saddest decision of my life was to move away from Athens and to the big city, Atlanta. I’m located in the tri-county area (Gwinnett, Fulton, and Forsyth). Ryan and I decided to move out of Athens for many reasons. It’s time to expand my business. I want my business to be rockin’-hot-mega-awesome-huge, and to do that I need to be in a bigger city. I’m still taking many clients in Athens, so don’t stop contacting me for shoots!

During the exhausting move, the Baker’s decided to have a family vacation in Hilton Head. I needed to unwind more than anything, so a va-k sounded fabulous. Ryan and I were lucky enough to finally meet the newest member of the Baker family — Kylie! OMGOSH! Adorableness! The Baker family always seems to be getting bigger in the blink of an eye…but don’t you start asking me when Ryan and I will have a bun in the oven. lol Maybe after a year or so of Ryan and I actually living under the same roof…maybe then…just maybe.

Anyway, I would like to proudly introduce my adorable bundles of cute nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, and sister-in-laws.

I rarely get to be in family pictures… No one has any idea how much this devastates me (other than fellow photographer friends). Only I know how to work my “difficult-confusing-ridiculous-expensive” camera, so I understand. I need to train Ryan to take pictures with my camera, so I can be a part of the family albums too. Ryan and I went out on a special vacation date, and we got semi-dolled up. Majority of the pictures Ryan took of me were blurry hahaha! But he got a few good ones too!

I love my husband. He is the funnest person I know. He never fails to make roll around on the ground with laughter or anger. lol Ryan is the biggest goof. He doesn’t care what people think….I’ve never met a more fearless person. He’s the guy that use to go to class in bright pink fuzzy house slippers, or randomly decided to go help with disaster relief in a remote country no one has ever heard of. I can’t wait to have him all to myself when he gets out of the Army. These pictures display how Ryan acts on a daily basis.

More stuff to update on… So, no news on moving to Cambodia. It’s still in discussion. I understand since it’s such a HUGE decision and expensive project that it might take some time for us to hear back on moving overseas. I haven’t given up on it.  Sounds like it might be moved to further down the road around a year or two. Right now I’m super excited to begin my journey in Atlanta. So many opportunities here. Prices are going to change soon, so book now while you still can. I’ll probably update my prices April 15th.

And if you thought I couldn’t make this post just a little bit longer…!

Many times my clients ask, “Why does it take so long for you to edit my pictures?” I know…I wish I was super-woman-editing-machine and could give you your pictures the next day, but I’ll show you what I have to go through to make your images magical. Sometimes I can spend 20 minutes editing ONE stinkin’ photo…but it will look fantastic when I’ve fixed it. Doing dog photography forces you to be a problem solver. 30% of dogs are terrified of cameras. 99% of dogs refuse to look directly into a camera without you knowing a few tricks to making them stare into the lens. Same goes for kids. I’ll show you a few before & afters from this shoot because my family wont mind.

Edits can be minor…such as white balance, getting detail back that was washed out by the sun, getting rid of baby boogers and making an image pop.

Or edits can be time-consuming works of art. I would like to see you render a chair, pillow, and wall while eliminating an arm in 2 seconds. lol

Hmm, I have a good idea. Maybe I’ll start showing before and afters from every shoot. That way I can work on the photoshop techniques and tricks that everyone has been asking me to show.

Yep, I don’t just photograph puppies and kittens anymore. Now I’m starting to photograph babies. This was a very exciting shoot for me. Not only was this my first baby photo session, but it was my fist time doing studio photography. I’ve recently acquired amazing new lighting gear thanks to my aaaaawesome parents.  Best birthday present ever. I’m thrilled to be expanding my services. I love working with four legged creatures, but I want to do it all.

I was super lucky to have such a handsome baby to work with! I met Zachary’s mom while I was volunteering at Athens-Clarke County Animal Control. Stephanie is an animal control officer at the shelter. She was very pregnant and still dealing with the rambunctious lost dogs and animals of Athens. I may have hinted a million times to her that I should be her baby photographer once Zachary was born. Zach is 3 weeks old in these pictures, and just a bundle of cute.

I hope people that follow my blog aren’t too disappointed that I’m not just doing pet photography. I know it’s fun to come to my blog and see the next cute furbaby that I’ve encountered, but I’m excited to be growing. I would love to hear what you guys think. Shoot me a comment here or on facebook
